I am asking how to *circumvent* the problem by *disabling* automatic numerical calculation of local maxima for a given function.]]>

No "*disabling* automatic numerical calculation" 3. not a friendly/good answer from your side 4. what you are looking for its for me not really clear especially the local maxima in the context with numeric calculation is not clear (for me) maybe you mean "ignore Extremum with value y=0" Then try: KeepIf(y(P)!=0 ,P, {Extremum( <Function>, <Start x-Value>, <End x-Value> )}) Note: the result is a list, not tested.]]>

Fri, 27 Apr 2018 16:37:34 +0000<![CDATA[Just dropping by to emphasize that the question was "How to disable automatic calculation of extremes, and if it is not possible, please say so". It was not "How to modify my function so that the extremes detection feature, when enabled, won't be overtriggered". And it wasn't any other question either. The question I asked was the question I asked. I asked a French teacher, "How do I say good evening in French?". "There is no equivalent" would be a good answer if it were true. "What's the context?" would be a good answer if it depended on the weekday or something. But neither is the case, and the only good answer is "Bonsoir". The situation with this question is very similar. The functionality to disable automatic calculation of extremes either exists in the software or it doesn't. It's a yes or no question, and if yes, how to. It does not "depend".]]>
