zoom failure (returned?)

New

II have a MacBook Air that I have recently updated to Mojave. All is fine EXCEPT I cannot zoom in using Geogebra 5 Classic (see below for details). Two fingers swiping up or down is scroll in all other apps and used to be zoom the entire view in Geogebra. Now both directions zoom out. The exception is that if I swipe down very fast in the gesture for scrolling with inertia, then I can get some zoom in but with significant rebound. I have been reduced to using zoom by 400% repeatedly just to do standard zooming in. (Note, I see rather a lot of error messages in the attached system info from Geogebra.)

Is no one else seeing this? Does anyone have any clue why GeoGebra is reading my trackpad differently than all other apps?

You can try <Ctrl>+ and <Ctrl>-

Does it work with a mouse + scrollwheel?

Hi

Same problem here...

@Lenore yep was returned 8 months ago... https://help.geogebra.org/t...

@Michael : TrackPad on Mac (MacBookAir or MacBookPro) are big ones. When we use them, we never come back with mouses..!!!!!

When we buy a Mac, we have MagicMouse (without scroll heel). We will not buy a scroll heel mouse especially for GeoGebra !!!

Shortcuts : First on Mac it is not ctrl but cmd

And it is cmd - and cmd )

Thank's for that Michael... I didn't think use those shortcuts..! It is a workaround at the zoom bug

but it doesn't solve the bug with trackpad on MacBooks... (or MagicTrackPad on my iMac)

Scroll wheel on a mouse worked for me when I tried today. <cmd>- and <cmd>= (i.e. don't need to hold shift key down) also work. Thank you for a better work-around than zooming in and out by fixed factors.

<cmd>= doesn't work with a keyboard with keypad (holding or not shift key), but work with + on the keypad

anyway - and ) is better AMHA because keys are adjacent...

The problem is also that we zoom and move graphic view with trackpad (same with a mouse), and now we zoom with keyboard and move with trackpad

Imagine this bug with mouses of all PC and all versions of GeoGebra, the forum would set a record of unhappy posters..!

Developper's answer is "use GeoGebra 6" or "use keyboard" or "buy a scrollwhell mouse". Next one is "buy a Windows PC"..?

buy a Windows PC
Yup, good advice if you want the best support

Zoom is not a sophisticated feature, only for experimented users...

Zoom is a basic feature, used by every user..!

It is not a "best" support, it is a basic support

Every teacher in the world (and every student) with a Mac, will appreciate your answer... or not...

And if best support is really on Windows PC, you should say this on your site

(for example for new teachers, students or schools, who want to buy a Mac)

This problem was driving me almost mad, but I eventually found a solution.

Buy any cheap PC USB mouse and use it with GG 5: no more damned zooming issues...

Thank's Stefano

The electric raising window mechanism of my car doesn't work

My garage mechanic said me "buy cheap handles and no more problem"
