Hi there,
I'm a long term user of geogebra. Now suddenly I see geogebra 6 somewhere in downloads, no automatic upgrade call from my geogebra 5 no information to be found on geogebra.org... so please, tell me, what is new about geogebra 6 to justify a whole version number step up? I downloaded it, saw that the user interface is now the same as the online version (and it's really akward to save something just to the good old harddrive and not to some cloud I don't like...) and I found some new commands but didn't see big changes else.
Regards,
Martin

Geogebra 6 Classic appears to be a "web" version of Geogebra that is the same as what you get in your browser. You can install it in your computer side-by-side as Geogebra 5.
The version number appears to be the same as Geogebra 5, only 5.0.393.0-d vs 6.0.393.0-d. Appears that they want to retire the classic Desktop version (i.e. Geogebra Classic 5), but the only feature I use in Geogebra (emf export) does not exist in Geogebra 6 Classic, so I can't "upgrade". Sad.
if you want to know how the developers look upon the evolution and versions, especially GG5 and 6, please look at the video from the recent world conference in Linz on the facebook page of GeoGebra:

GG 5 and 6 are updated both. But it's true when using GG5, without looking on the donwmoadpage you would never hve noticed that there was a new version. If you want to continue using GG5, there's no problem. It's still supported and updated (you can watch this in the version numbers as mathmagic wrote).
