Way to select only certain types of objects

I think there should be a way to select only object of a certain type. For instance, when the Point tool is selected, using the "Select All" command would select only points. When the Segment tool is selected, only segments would be selected.

I know that you can select all objects of a type in the object tree, but this does not distinguish between visible and hidden objects.

Additionally, adding the ability to drag-select using the mouse and only select objects of the selected type would be great as well. The SHIFT + LEFT MOUSE key combinations could be used for this.

Hi Mike (SharkD),

Your second paragraph indicates you know that a selection followed by a change in the Object Properties window can apply to all objects of a particular type. That window shows which of those objects are visible --- each platform allows a qualified revision/addition to an initial selection.

I do not understand your third paragraph and would welcome a clarification.

Please supply several (3 to 5) explicit examples where your requested change to "Select All" would be productive for most users, teachers and students, of Geogebra. On the other hand, perhaps a "Select All Visible Objects of This Type" could be more useful than confusing --- examples please.

What I meant was, dragging the mouse to create a selection box while the Shift (or some other) key is depressed would only select objects -- visible ones of course -- of "This Type".

This is actually how GSP handles selection. It's very convenient when you have *lots* of objects. I currently am working on a sheet with several hundred objects, many of which are overlapping. Neither the current "Select all" option or the mouse selection box will work in this case. The object tree *would* work, except the default Alpha_number naming scheme results in the objects being scattered throughout the tree.

That would probably be even better.

Can we have a "Select all of same type" command in the "Edit" menu? This is something I missed from GSP. Thanks!

To select all objects of one type I use for example the algebra view and click on the name of the object type.
