Unwanted limits for free variables are automatically set

Javier Cayetano Rodríguez shared this problem 5 months ago
Solved

With the last update of GeoGebra web, every free numeric variable which was on an applet has got its lower and upper limits set to -5 and 5 (no matter if the variable on the original ggb file had no restriction for its values).

There are many of us who use those kind of variables to ask students for the answer of problems and check the solution.

This unwanted restriction on the variables is making those applets completely useless, since their answer cannot be greater than 5 now!!!

Could that automatic restriction please be removed?

Sorry, please try v479

If you saved a file with v478 or v477 then you may need to increase the slider limits

I did not include any slider limits, and the applets have worked perfectly eversince until now.

Please consider that many of us have hundreds of applets on geogebra (more than 500 in my case).

Are you really asking all of us to edit and change those many applets?

Is it not possible for you to solve this issue we are not responsible for?

Thank you.

OK. Thank you very much.

I have checked some of the activities and they seem to be working again.

Thank you for being so fast.

I am having this same issue on both files that have been uploaded and a brand new file that I created this morning on my downloaded version (has not been uploaded yet). I literally just checked 1 minute ago and am still experiencing this issue even though it is supposedly "solved".

Here is one link: https://www.geogebra.org/m/CTvPhYd6

"Problems attempted" and "Problems correct" values will not exceed 5.

https://www.geogebra.org/m/CTvPhYd6 was saved with v577 so will need a fix. Older ones will be fine.

Please share the links to all the ones you've done this week and we can check them.

Also make sure you update to v579 for creating new ones

So even though the issue is on your end (when I open my version on my desktop it works fine) I have to go back to ALL of the applets that were created in v577 and fix ALL the free variables in them and then re-load them?? I have already checked the uploads from the last week and they seem to be working, and I had already downloaded the latest version in an attempt to fix the file I am currently working on.

Alternatively you can check them yourself - check if any numbers have "slider limits" and change them to something sensible

Nevermind about them. I have already checked them.

I was just worried for older applets. They were too many to check them, but fortunately they are working fine again.

Thank you for yout great effort.
