Standard calculations are made with real numbers. If you want to solve equations as complex numbers, you have to indicate it. So when typing CSolve(x^(2)+1=0) as input you'll get x = i and x = -i as output in CAS.

Sqrt(-1) does not exist in space of reals numbers R !
