Oh, I see it does work if I refrain from using the abs and sgn functions. Though it would be nice if they could still be used for inequalities to keep expressions nicely compact.

what are the initial data?
Well, I'm just considering a line through the origin with a slope 'v', the two points A, B where the line intersects the unit circle and a distance of 1/2 to that line segment between A and B.
