Return angle checkbox disappeared from advanced settings

So in the settings, on the advanced tab/group, the checkbox where you decided if atan() etc shold return angles or radians has disappeared. I searched the changelog and found that there are new commands atand() etc that return angles in degrees so that you can decide at any instant what you want to have and even compare answers. This seems to be a reasonable improvement, though it would have been nice with some heads-up since my students are ocationally using GeoGebra as a calculator on the computer.
But I'm worried that there are some apps out there in the wild which rely on atan() returning results in degrees due to the settings of the app. I'm hoping that these wont be affected. Or will they? A clarification would be useful.
