retrieving .ggb file from local hard drive

I can't do it! This is Geogebra classic. I don't know what version--I can't find where it would tell me the version.

I go to 'open'. It wants me to open from a cloud. I hate clouds. So I click on the file icon (which is NOT identified--I'm supposed to know what it means. I guessed. Shame on the developers.)

That brings me to my local hard drive. Hooray!

But when I try to open a file that appears there, that I have just created a day ago, NOTHING happens. It starts working, but Geogebra does not show my file!

So all my work is useless.

Is this really how things work? I cannot save reliably to my local drive?

HELP! HELP! HELP!

Well, all local .ggb files. Those are the only ones I would want to upload to Geogebra.

What does 'heat cloud' mean?

And how do I know what version I'm using. I'm very confused.

can you attach a file that you can not open?

Use File -> Open not double-click. If that doesn't work please upload the file here

Okay! I was double-clicking, and using 'open' helps.

Sometimes.

****But sometimes Geogebra simply hangs up. I wait five minutes or more and the file I've chosen never loads. I'm giving classes in real time and would like to use Geogebra. But how can I if opening a file from my hard drive is unreliable?

OR: What am I doing wrong?
