range of a function

Hi - trying to find a command, or a work around, that will produce the global max or min of a function that's not just a polynomial. I see that max or min will find just one max or min over an interval. I've created an interesting function that requires students to search for a max over an interval, however if I have more than one max my applet will give possibly give me the wrong value. But on the other hand, more than one max is a more interesting curve to be looking at. Trying to think outside the box on this one. Here's the current version, period of the sine term in the function is 20 to prevent incorrect range. Would like it to be 5. In this version, I've taken into account end points and the max(function...). Works, as long as I don't have more than one max/min.
