Solved

I'm running Geogebra Classic v. 5.0.366.0.

There seems to be a problem in the checkboxes controlling the visibility of objects in the different views (Graphics - Graphics 2 - 3D Graphics).

Apparently the check/uncheck is registered, but if I return later to the Location section the checkboxes shown are not the one set before (and memorized in the file). More precisely the Graphics checkbox is always checked even if the object is not shown in the Graphics view.

This can cause some confusion.

I realized this behavior when working on a rather complex file (Basketball 3D) and trying to track down a strange performance problem that always led Geogebra to progressively slow down and then hang after some minute.

Finally I discovered that the problem was caused by a 3D parametric curve having the "Graphics view" checked. Unchecking it solved the problem. I imagine that the execution was clogged up by the program trying to render a 3D object in a 2D view.

By the way a 3D object shouldn't be allowed to have the any of the 2D views checked...

Is the problem confirmed or can it be related to some of my settings?

Why not? eg

  1. Curve[t², t³ - 1, abs(t + abs(t)), t, -5, 5]

Which object in your file was causing the problem?

You are right. In my case the problem was related to a parametric curve (a parabola in 3D with axis parallel to the z axis). Anyway I think that my problem was the same as the one reported here that "will be fixed for next release".

Thanks
