Problem when maximizing geogebra window size

When maximizing geogebra window size, list box moves away from pulldown menus key. This makes it impossible to work with a maximized window.

Geogebra version; 5.0.19.0-3D

Operating system: LinuxMint 17

Original graphic card of Sony VAIO VGNFS515E

I have been using geogebra on windows XP for a while. I just migrated to Linux Mint17. I didn't use the official version of geogebra for mint but the 3D version using deb packages. Installation went smooth. The 3D functionalities seem to be working fine so far.

I have the same problem with geogebra (5.0.x) on Fedora 20. I was not able to get a screenshot, because when the window is maximized I have to hold down the mouse button in order the pulldown menu does not disapear, and holding this button seems to block the screnshot.

A workaround I have found is to maximize the windows, the go to options|save preferences, close Geogebra. When reopening again, it appears in a maximized window and the menus are working as expected :-)

I tried to upload a screencast but the forum reports:

I posted the same problem in german at http://www.geogebra.org/for...

The problem occours due to a bug in the included java-Version which is known to have problems in GNOME, MATE, ...

As a workaround you can use the following command to start GeoGebra with the following command:

java -jar /usr/share/geogebra/geogebra.jar

As a workaround you can use the following command to start GeoGebra with the following command:

java -jar /usr/share/geogebra/geogebra.jar

This solved the problem for me. I also had to update

    /usr/share/applications/geogebra.desktop

accordingly for it to work when I double click on an existing ggb file.

Hi, could you please tell me how did you update geogebra.desktop?

I tried copying the command into the TryExec and Exec part of the file, but it didn't seem to work.

Thanks a lot, kind of a linux newbie here. : )

Ok, got this, strangely had to create a new file, copy everything there, then delete original & rename copy. Thanks for tip, anyway!
