I am trying to plot y = sqrt(x) as a surface extending infinitely in the z direction. Please help.

I have but that was useless. The syntax is fairly simple, but not obvious "a:y=sqrt(x)" plots a parabolic cylinder which is what I was trying to do.

GG draw functions(x,y), surfaces or quadrics

you can try surface(u,sqrt(u),v,u,0,10,v,-5,5)

or y^2=x+0z
