Online editor should alert about unsaved changes

Solved

When I edit a worksheet online and accidentally click on the Cancel button in the lower right corner, the editor discards all unsaved work without warning. It should really alert a user about any unsaved changes.

I keep loosing hours of work because of this simple missing feature as I tend to accidentally click on Cancel button whenever I want to close some menu inside the cluttered editor window.

I'd also suggest to rename the button from "Cancel" to "Cancel Editing".

It would also be helpful to have a button to save changes without leaving the editor.

This is already available, on top right of the page.

About your main question in this post, thank you. I think that it'd be a nice add-on to the online editor.

I'm looping your suggestion to the Materials Team.

Actually, the Save button is greyed out when I am editing an applet. And that's the stage when I keep loosing unsaved changes.

Thank you for your suggestion. For now, we won't change anything in the editor, as we plan to make some improvements in the near future at once. I will take your wish into consideration for that.

Best wishes,

Tanja

Thank you for considering my bug report.

Just wanted to add a couple of screenshots of typical situations where I end up accidentally clicking the Cancel button.

1. I start editing an applet online in Firefox on Windows 10.

2. Then, I open setting for the one of the objects, make changes, and want to close those settings to see the rest of the applet. There's a bewildering choice of buttons: two smaller X buttons and the bigger Cancel button. My first instinct is to click on the bigger button and that's when I lose lot's of work!

3. It's even more confusing when I click on the menu inside the Applet editor as the X button to cancel that Menu is hard to see.

Since I started this thread, I've already lost another hour of work due to this issue, so I'm about to give up :(.

Looking forward to the new version!

Eugene

Why is this bug report tagged as "Solved"? This can be confusing to developers, as there's still an open bug in how the Cancel button works!

Aren't there any other tags like "Won't Fix" that many developers use?

After yet another attempt, I'm giving up on using this embedded online applet editor. I find it pretty much unusable because of the mentioned bug.

My work-around is to download an applet and use the Geogebra Classic app. It's not as convenient but it's certainly a safer option.
