Needs Answer
Usually, when I select a tool in the toolbar, along the bottom of the applet let a gray box appears that says what the tool is and brief instructions for using it.
These tips are missing when I'm using the applet. But it appears when I'm editing the applet.
Any ideas what I'm missing here?

Do you mean while using a ggb app inside an online activity, that is, one of the materials uploaded on http://www.geogebra.org?
Yes. I believe so. I've attached a picture of what I'm missing. It appears when in edit mode...but not during the activity itself.
I'd really like it to be there (I'm a teacher using this for my students).
Is it possible that it's missing because I customized the tool bar?
I am having the same problem

I'm having the same problem. No matter how many times I choose "ON" for tooltips in the settings and save, they still don't show up unless I'm in the applet editor. I don't want to have to put directions for how to use each tool on my worksheet because I'm trying to keep the instructions minimal. :(
