Is there an option to allow students enter mathematical symbols - similarly to teacher?

When solving mathematical activities assigned to students in Classroom, they often need to use math formulas. However, looks like this option (a virtual keyboard with math symbols or an equation editor) is missing on student's side. If anybody faced this problem and knows a workaround solution, please suggest possible steps.
