Installation anomoly with Geogebra Classic 6

The apps download page lists Geogebra Classic 6 (GeoGebra-Windows-Installer-6-0-477-0) as an installed windows desktop. It is also recommended to use this over the other options. But clicking on it just starts up the app. Is this the intended behavior? Or is there a mixup on the download page. Regardless if there is a windows installer where can I download it?

If you also copy the entire folder in C: \\ Program files (x86) and create the shortcut now from there it works good.

I've just tried now, and you get a dialog windows for download of the installer.

You probably used the online version :)

No. Same thing. To be very clear I clicked on the GeoGebra Classic 6 link and it just downloads. Clicking on it after downloading just starts Geogebra Classic 6. No installer dialog opens. Please verify this.

Out of curiosity I did try Geogebra Classic 5 and this did open up an installer wizard. I do not want Classic 5. I want the latest which is Classic 6. So my question is again asked. Does Classic 6 have a version that opens up a Windows installer wizard?

While not fixing the installation program, I read about how to solve it, the program is installed in the hidden Appdata user folder, for which it is necessary to change so that the folders show the hidden files and folders, and it is in the following path: "C: \ Users \ Admin \ AppData \ Local \ GeoGebra_6 \ app-6.0.477 \ GeoGebra.exe" from there, they can create a shortcut to add it to the desktop.

I don't understand what is going on after launching GeoGebra-Windows-Installer-6-0-481-0.exe on my W10

I can see two instance in start bar at the bottom of my screen but nothing arrive when I click on them.

Operating System: Windows 10 Famille 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)

Oops in fact I simply have to click right on one of these two instances, then I must choose "agrandir" (means Enlarge). and the application is opening !. But I do not know why it is not as usual (just clicking left button on the instance)

Have you already try to run GeoGebra.exe from path: C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.477\GeoGebra.exe

@julesmanson,

It's exactly like @Pedro Treviño says: GeoGebra 6 is located in the AppData folder.

Inside it I've found three geogebra apps; I think they were the calulculator, the graphing app and the classic one.

I've tried opening the classic one and the it boots up the exact same program that the "installer" does.

I think I'm just going to stick with the latest version of GeoGebra 5 for now, since I prefer the old look and UI more.

Hi,

Downloaded the GeoGebra Classic version 6 installer using the "GeoGebra Classic 6 Installer for Windows (offline installer file, recommended for all Windows versions, updates automatically)" link and expected a regular Install Wizard to run as mentioned above.

Totally confused, I checked Programs in Control Panel and GeoGebra Classic was listed as being installed, except in AppData\...\GeoGebra_6, where there is an installation record SquirrelSetup.log

2018-10-28 21:48:54> Program: Starting Squirrel Updater: --update https://download.geogebra.o...
2018-10-28 21:48:54> Program: Starting update, downloading from https://download.geogebra.o...
2018-10-28 21:48:54> Program: About to update to: C:\Users\< username
 >\AppData\Local\GeoGebra_6
2018-10-28 21:48:54> CheckForUpdateImpl: Generated new staging user ID: 66da3629-86d7-55c8-b7d7-15606be00021

The last line puzzled me because the updater recognized me running 64-bit Windows 8.1, but Task Manager shows GeoGebra as a 32-bit process.

(I learned later that this updater process and log run every time the offline program runs)

There are only a few executables installed

GeoGebra_6\Update.exe
GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.507\disablekeys.exe
GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.507\GeoGebra.exe
GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.507\GeoGebraGeometry.exe
GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.507\GeoGebraGraphing.exe
GeoGebra_6\app-6.0.507\resources\app\node_modules\windows-shortcuts\lib\shortcut\Shortcut.exe

(Note: Shortcut.exe is not a shortcut for running GeoGebra--see the readme.md file in that directory)

GeoGebra.exe runs Geogebra Classic and I guess you could create a shortcut to Desktop or Start to have easy access, though I feel that having a standard installer to do that would have been nicer.

Going into all this detail because I couldn't quite figure out what was going on and wanted to make sure that the next confused user has a better picture :)
