How to snap the end of a Segment with Given Length to a Line

So I know the starting point and the length of a segment, and I have a line to which the endpoint should connect to: the x coordinate of the line would be the x coordinate of the endpoint as well. The y coordinate is unknown, but would naturally be determined by those other things. I can move the segment around its starting point, but it doesn't snap into the line, nor have I found a way to determine the endpoint's x coordinate either. The x koordinate is also quite random (a lot of decimals), and I don't know if that would make it more complicated (in case I would have to copy and enter the value or something).
