How can I type on galaxy tab s3 using the keyboard cover?

I am using GeoGebra Classic (5.0.390.0) on Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (SM-T820) with a keyboard case connected via a POGO pin. The app works great except I cannot use the keyboard case to type in the input bar. I can still input the formula using the on-screen virtual keyboard, but this is inconvenient and time-consuming. I would like to know if there's a way to type formulae into the input bar using an external keyboard.

Note that I can still use the external keyboard for other operations like deleting objects, panning around the graph using the arrow keys, etc.
