Groups problems: Saving student progress, changing post settings

1. Students are reporting problems saving their work on worksheets, and I'm finding blank worksheets from students who I know did some work (maybe closed her computer without leaving site?): example. Some student answers to questions are going to comments, or being copied to other fields: example2. When I make a new post of a worksheet in Groups, then click on "Edit post", then on the gear to change settings, the settings just pop up and back, and I am unable to change them (for instance, to enable the "check" button for my students).
The same problem 
Is there any chance the first example for #1 above has something to do with the computer language being Chinese? I've noticed that these problems happen more often with students whose system language is different from English.
Here's another one: trying to save this worksheet and getting this error:
Mysqli statement execute error : Incorrect integer value: '%2Fgroup%2Fstream%2Fid%2FVpdcLIEdx' for column 'post_id' at row 1
