Google Classroom--Turn In button?

MissMoss shared this problem 5 years ago
Solved

I was able to create a worksheet in Geogebra and embed it as an assignment in Google Classroom. The problem is that students cannot figure out how to turn the worksheet in. I see a place at the bottom of the worksheet that looks like a loading/thinking icon where I'm assuming the "Turn in" button would be, but nothing shows up.

Why isn't this showing up and/or is there a workaround so I can see all their answers? There's no place for the students to save the worksheet so they can upload it from Google Drive.

The problem you described may happen for users who are using GeoGebra with Google classroom for the first time. As a quick hack you may change the link address from http://www.geogebra.org/xxx to beta.geogebra.org/xxx : the new URL should produce an authentication popup (please check it's not blocked by your browser). Once student confirms the authentication popup turn in button should work on both normal and beta URL.

I changed the URL, but no popup happened. I changed the settings to allow popups and refreshed the page, and still there was no authentication box. Now there isn't anything at the bottom, not even a loading symbol.

I was finally able to get something to change. I was using beta.geogebra.org and the long link that was given. I tried using beta.geogebra.org and the shortened link that it gives you in the "View Link" under "Access Settings". The students needed to create an account, and there was some weird code that came up, but once we closed that, the worksheet had a "Save" option and a "Check" button on the bottom. I think what helped was just copying and pasting the link into Google Classroom and not using the link in Geogebra that automatically creates an assignment.

Still can't get students to turn in their worksheet. Attaching links in Google Classroom keeps giving me blank worksheets. The students can save their work, but I don't know where it's saving.

If you use the link from Access Settings and your students open it with GeoGebra account, their solutions are saved on geogebra.org, not google classroom.

Silly question, I am not sure if this has helped to clarify the process. So, is the key to have students make an account and be signed in to enable the turn in feature. I encountered the issue the other day and cannot have students hand in from within Geogebra.

There are two workflows you can use:

1) let students create accounts, create a GeoGebra Group and let them hand in the answers to the group (see https://www.geogebra.org/tu... ).

2) use Google classroom; in that case no GeoGebra account is needed. We still need to figure aut the popup problem.

I would really like students to be able to turn in on Google Classroom. In the videos showing the integration, this should be possible.

I agree with @MissMoss. Thank you @Zbynek for honestly looking into this. I would really like to be able to use this feature and it looks AWESOME on the youtube videos that I saw.

Update: the website team is working on this, the hack described in my post does not work, a proper solution will be available soon (likely tomorrow).

It is better, the button does now appear. But seems to stall out during the "Saving..." phase and just bogs down the turn in remains greyed/less bright.

I just made an assignment in Geogebra and assigned it through Google Classroom. I opened the assignment to preview what the students would see and there is nothing showing at the bottom of my page: Not a save button or anything to click on to turn in work.

The button only appears for students. When you preview the worksheet as a teacher, you don't see the Turn-in button, because google classroom does not allow teachers to save the work.

I can't submit (embed?) a Geogebra worksheet into Google Classroom - don't even see Classroom as an option. Why do I get the feeling that this was launched without any effort to streamline the connection between GeoGebra and Classroom?

You can add a GeoGebra worksheet to Google classroom by clicking the Share icon on the top header of a worksheet. On the tab 'Link' you will find the green button 'Create Assignment in Google classroom'.

Thanks,  but working from my MAC at home, that "link" does not offer Google Classroom as an option.

Can you please post the URL of the worksheet you are trying to share? (You can send it to support@geogebra.org if you prefer a private channel.)

This isn't working.  I was able to open GeoGeobra on my ipad and found "Classroom" with Share,  But then I get an error message "  Oops ... something went wrong" when I try to submit it to a share it with a Class.   When I open up the class that I shared the file to - only the instructions show.  And I don't see the "Link to" when I attempt to share this.

This is a great program for in classroom use;  but the different user interfaces and platforms (laptop, ipad, web) is a real problem that GeoGebra needs to address.

I got an "assignment" from GeoGebra to Classroom from my laptop - can't do it from iPad.  However when students open from classroom they get a picture of the coordinate plane, my instructions but on tools to work with.
