GeoGebra with Win 8.1 on Surface Pro 3

I had been using GeoGebra on my Windows 7 machine, but recently got a Win 8.1 Surface Pro 3, and am having a few problems.

The "regular" GeoGebra v. 5 works, but the menu and icons are unbelievably small. I have adjusted the font size so I can read things, but the icons won't change. This is not unique to GeoGebra - a lot of my programs have the same issue (small text/icons in menus.)

I thought I'd try the Windows app for tablets, but that doesn't install correctly (I think). If I understand the Quick Start guide, GeoGebra should open to a menu screen, which it does not. I go immediately to the algebra screen (I think) with the grid and axis.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I really like the app version since I can actually SEE what is going on, but a lot of the commands apparently aren't functioning.

Thanks!

Bill, I have the Surface Pro 3. While I have the Win App, I use the Java version due to its greater versatility.

However, the fix is to go to a lower native screen resolution with the desktop...instead of 2048x1600, I went to 1024x800 (I am not currently at that machine). The problem is GeoGebra does not automatically adjust to the super fine resolutions available on the Surface Pro 3...

I hope this helps...

currently, there is no way to increase the size of the toolbar icons in our desktop version, unfortunately. We will look into that to see if we can make that possible for high resolution screens like yours.

We suggest you have a look at our new web application at http://app.geogebra.org which allows scaling of both fonts and icons within your web browser by using the Ctrl and + resp. - keys.

Jumera - Thank you - apparently I somehow downloaded the wrong "Quick Start Guide" (I do a lot of late night surfing!) My app looks just like what you posted.

However, I still don't see how to access the toolbar and/or some of the menu items that are on the regular desktop app. For example, how do I change the settings for the x and y axis? How do I set rounding? I literally have pushed, poked, swiped and right-clicked everything I can think of.

I am not real fond of any software that is not user-friendly. I don't use Geogebra often, but was able to pretty much figure out the things I needed or wanted to do on my own. Looks like the tablet app is going to require a bit more work on my part.

Thanks again.
