In what way does it crash? Any error message?
Is it possible to do Help -> About -> System Information after the crash?
Now tried on 10.11.4 but doesn't matter.
Crash means it closes and shows "unexpectedly closed" (sorry picture is german).
you can view the full crashlog at:

thank you.
Are you able to try on a different computer?
It's possible you have some faulty RAM, can you swap some from another computer or maybe find a memory tester to run?

Same on MacBook Pro......
sorry forgot (and no edit function):
MacBook Pro has 10.11.2 stable OSX version.
I tried it from 5.150 to 5.195.
sorry,
something new again:
I launched geogebra.jar with debug to stdout and that's what it showed after I tried to close the 2D view when 3D view is opened:

Thank you for help :)
What's in this file?
/Applications/GeoGebra.app/Contents/Java/hs_err_pid1397.log
Hi,
This crash is from your graphic card. Is this happening since recent update of your system? Maybe the graphic card driver needs an update too.
Cheers,
Mathieu
Hi,
at the moment I cannot provide the log (on the way to university).
Driver cannot be updated separately on osx.
I think it came with 10.11, but it happens on iMac and MacBook Pro, but unfortunately both have nVIDIA graphics. So...what to do?
I will provide the log later today.
So: here's the logfile:

How to solve?
So no this is not hardware related!
Has to be fixed in GeoGebra:
Following is working:
open 3D-Graphic via sidebar (automatically closes 2D-Graphic).
or open 3D-Graphic through menu ("View")
and then click on 2D-Graphic through menu ("View") then 2D-Graphic closes and 3D-View remains.
But if you click on 3D-Graphic and then use the "X" on the 2D-Graphic then GeoGebra crashes.
To show which "X" I mean see attached screenshot.
It looks like a bug in the nVidia drivers (a bug in GeoGebra wouldn't cause a crash like this). We may be able to work around it (or not...)
In the meantime, can you use this version instead?
http://web.geogebra.org/#3d
Same for open 3D-Graphic via sidebar and then use "X" just for the 3D-Graphic
--> force close.
So I saw that there's something related to AWT-AppKit bug in some apps.
But this bug has been fixed in java, but some apps use some kind of "old" method or something like that.
I'm not familiar with AWT/Swing apps.
So in the meanwhile I'll click on 3D-Graphic in the menu and then click on 2D-Graphic via menu.
The "X" just does not work... somehow
Hi,
Finally I've been able to reproduce that. I'll try to fix it -- in the meanwhile please use this workaround, thanks!
Cheers,
Mathieu
Is there any issue on github for this? :)
Would like to see the status while not asking everytime ;-)
Hi,
Yes, it's here: https://jira.geogebra.org/b...
Cheers,
Mathieu
Hi
Same here :(
(didn't notice it, because i never use side bar...)
It is strange
Sometimes ok, sometimes freeze, sometimes crash
But the problem is not with 3D Graphics only
but all side-bar menu
When i open, with side-bar, successively windows in side-bar menu
first time, if it is ok
second time it is long
third time, it is very long
and then freeze
Sometimes it works first time
sometimes it doesn't work
For example : Algebra view only. Side-bar > Graphics. Graphics doesn't come
In Console, i have :
SecTaskLoadEntitlements failed error=22
Everything OK with Menus
So, it is not a graphic card problem, but side-bar problem
(anyway, on Mac, drivers are automatically update with system update)
And i don't have NVIDIA, but ATI Radeon HD 4670
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. Ticket updated.
Mathieu
Of course it's still reproducable.
Same as before, tested with .205
Hi,
I can't reproduce it anymore. Can I ask you for a screencast, so I would see exactly how it happens? Thanks!
Mathieu
Hey,
Yep. Get the screencast here: https://langerm.de/screenca...
Or did you mean anything other by saying screencast?
Thank you!
Let me know if you need anything more.
Same bug happens, if I try to open "construction protocol" or doing a "create 2d view from..." eg. from a flat.

Martin
Happening with .228 as well. c'mon please fix that one. it's really annoying.
You can see the crashes at
https://youtu.be/rIhFqlj-tnU
M
Mrahikka I put that screencast nearly one month onto my webserver. Nobody answered. Then I deleted it some weeks ago, because of no reaction from anyone. But thanks that you put it on youtube now. Maybe we get an answer.
This is really annoying crash. I noticed it in a workshop for teachers a couple of weeks ago.
M
Same for me :D So they're talking this bug away...
Hi,
I still can't reproduce that bug on my machine -- but thanks for the screen casts.
We are currently working on openGL libraries, hopefully this will fix this bug.
Cheers,
Mathieu
Please try this test version and let us know if it's OK:

Hi Michael,
Now it's working for me with 5.0.232.1
Thank you!
Thanks Michael. Now does not crash on my Macs.
MacBook Retina and iMac. So the problem is solved.
M
5.0.233.0 now online
Please can you both test 5.0.238.0 as well?
On the Mac Appstore the newest is 231, where do I get the 233 and 238 versions?
M
https://www.geogebra.org/ma...
238 seems to work OK on my two Macs.
M
Sorry, didn't look in here for 2 weeks, works also well with 243. But also good with 238 from App Store.
Thank you for solving
