Geogebra becomes unresponsive and hangs fairly quickly on chrome and firefox

Hi, I've been trying to use geogebra for some simple animations and I've noticed that it becomes quickly very unresponsive and annoying to use.
I've tried both chrome and firefox on linux and both browsers exhibit the same exact behaviour.
The same question 
This especially true for function compositions. It seems that something fundamentally wrong in this implementation of GeoGebra behind the scenes
