Fixed objects can be deleted in Geogebratube

Not a Problem

Fixed objects can currently be deleted in Geogebratube, and I believe in the web version of Geogebra. This did not used to be the case, and they still cannot be deleted in the desktop version.

I like to included the delete tool in the construction questions that I make for students as it is more flexible than just using the back button to get rid of objects. However if they can delete the given objects that I make fixed, then it can mess everything up. In the Geogebra wiki it says fixed objects cannot be deleted, and I wish this were still the case.

Here is an example.

Thanks so much.

I also think that it's important that fixed object cannot be manipulated by users at all.

This is currently happening in all ggb versions, and also in the installed Classic v.5 and v.6

I hope the devs are going to change this behaviour soon.

then can we not delete a function?

there is some objects created fixed. I think you must deselect "selection allowed".

Hi Mathmagic,

what the user says is that now if you press Canc or right click and select Delete object from the context menu of a fixed object, it is deleted even though the Fixed box is active.

And IMHO this is a bug - or anyway a not so useful feature...

Why is this not a problem? According to the Geogebra wiki, "Fixed objects (both free and dependent) cannot be moved, redefined or deleted." But they can be deleted, so isn't that a problem?

Ah, so I need to uncheck "selection allowed." The update to the wiki makes it clear. Thanks so much Michael.

Actually unchecking "selection allowed" is not a solution for me, because then the objects cannot really be used at all. You cannot put a line through two points if you are not able to select them.

I suppose for now I will have to get rid of the delete tool from the toolbar on most of my applets. This is not ideal, because although students can still use the back button, they cannot directly delete something they created several steps ago. I strongly prefer the way it used to be where fixed objects could not be deleted. I'm not sure when and why this change came about.

Sorry to belabor the point. Thanks for all that you do Michael.

certainly, an input box selectable and fixed is not deleted.

I think as you this is the desirable feature.

but the functions are fixed by default and normally must be deleteable
