Export to file save method needed in the Android tablet app

Edward shared this problem 5 years ago
Not a Problem

The useful "export" save method in the online website app that saves work as an image file or GeoGebra file which is downloaded in the web browser isn't in the app. This simpler version of the tool for Android tablets seems good but lacks this basic ability for users that want to save work to their local storage, particularly if they're offline or don't have a GeoGebra account.

Please add this, thanks!

This is a similar problem to https://help.geogebra.org/topic/geogebra-6-no-option-to-save-file-local. However, mine is with the Android mobile/tablet application.

I found a very similar related uncategorized question from four months ago at https://help.geogebra.org/t....

Here's a quote of content from the message:

  1. Hello. I am using the geogebra app for android in mobile.
  2. I want to know if there are a way to save the work without internet access and if it can be opened with the app.

Yes, this could work but using a share service to save could be unreliable (using a third party tool).

It would be better if the Android app supported saving to and opening from local files, like the website and desktop versions can do (as an image or .ggb file).

The mobile/tablet app shouldn't lack this basic feature to store work locally, particularly for when a user don't have internet access.

For these reasons why the problem isn't resolved and other information I included in a similar comment on the question https://help.geogebra.org/t..., please change the status of this topic from "Not a problem" to "In Progress" or something better.

Another option is "Needs Answer". This could make it easier for people working on the GeoGebra project to notice the problem and add local file storage options to the Android app.

Can you change the status of this topic to something like "In Progress" or "Needs Answer", for the reasons I previously described about the feature being needed in the app.

There should be support for saving/opening from local/device file storage on Android, a basic feature that's most important when a user doesn't have internet access.

I'm not using GeoGebra often at the moment and use the website app instead but it's a good idea for people using the Android app offline to have support for saving to/opening from device storage in the app - the browser and desktop versions have this.
