Does Intersect() and/or the Intersect tool (not) work on plane curves in 3-D

I've been trying to use either/both the Intersect() command and/or the Intersect Tool to find the intersection of the parametrically-given x-y planar curves d & e in the attached file, to no avail: the Intersect command simply pops up the box displaying the various call signatures of the command (I've tried most of these) and the Intersect Tool appears to be unresponsive to my attempts to select either one curve after the next, or a point of intersection. The two-D GC did this successfully; is this not supported in 3-D, or is this problem too hard for the 3-D CG's engine?

Just to clarify: is Intersect not implemented at all in 3-D mode, or just not by object name reference, i.e., if I "hard code" the curves in the Intersect command, should that work?

Intersect( <Curve 1>, <Curve 2>, <Parameter 1>, <Parameter 2> ) will work for 3D curves soon (probably from v600)
