need to know how to denote postive root of solution of x^2-9=0 by a variable "a" in CAS view eg; denoting a=3 in CAS view and enabling it to operate in algebraic view

A equation is not a value. use RightSide(<equation>)

Select an element from a list with Element(<list>,<index>)

in your term use Solutions instead of Solve or insert Rightside to your term

Thanks very much. I can compute 'a+5' in cas view but got error in algebra view. is is possible to compute 'a+5' in algebra view? thanks

a in Algebra View is seen as a line, because Algebra View doesn't work in symbolic form.

So adding 5 to a line has no meaning, and it doesn't work.

x, y and z in Algebra View are reserved variables, related to the orthonormal reference system.

Can not see your problem, what about my former proposal, To dynamic worksheets use $-reference and not #-reference.

If you want to use Solve your Line 3 should look like


3: a:=Substitute(x,$2)
> a:=sqrt(51) - 3

Actually need to construct a circle of radius 'a'=√51-3 (called from CAS) entered in algebraic view but got. error. any help will be appreciated.
