Solved

the Geogebra app has an option to display the caption of an object, but no capacity that I can see to set that caption

Tap (or click) the object, to open its properties menu.

Select the three dots icon, and tap the Set Caption Style item in the appearing menu.

Select your favorite caption.

That lets you choose "caption", but there is nowhere to specify what the caption should be, so it just seems to be the same as the name.

To be clear, I'm talking about the iPad Geometry app

I’ve tried with the iPad right now and it works. You can choose among the usual Name, Value, etc. but you can’t enter a custom text.

Sorry for the Italian interface of the app, it just uses the iOS language.

After you selected the three dots icon, scroll down the menu at the bottom of the app.

The Caption menu is displayed just below the Line Thickness cursor.

Tap it to access to the options for captions

The whole point of my question was to be able to enter a custom caption.
