Auto Parens and Auto Deletion Behavior

In Progress

Example 1

Suppose that you wish to group a single character

A
You highlight A and press left paren key. (

Result:

A()
Expected:

(A)

Example 2

Suppose you have the following characters in the input bar:

ABC
You Highlight BC and press (

Expected:

A(BC)
Result:
AB(C)

Example 3

Suppose you have the following in input:

AB(C)
You wish you to change the value to A(BC), which is a common situation as seen in the previous examples. You probably take one of two different actions...

Example 3.1

You try to delete ( using a single backspace from Example 3.

Result:

AB
Expected:

ABC)

Example 3.2

You try to delete the ) using a single backspace from Example 3.

Result:

Expected:

AB(C

I find that this happens very frequently, and I've found myself deleting a huge number of characters at once unexpectedly. Since you can't undo that kind of action, I find myself being forced to retype whole equations 2 or more times if I do a press a few incorrect keystroke combinations.

I'd love to be able to just enter completely plain text with no automatic features at all. Just like a plain text editor.

I've looked at several other similar questions, and saw response like "there isn't an option for that". So I'm curious what would need to be done in order to make it possible to disable or change?

Thanks, we'll look at adding those ideas.

We won't be adding that in new apps but it works like that in GeoGebra Classic with the old Input Bar
