Hi, everyone!

I have a problem with geogebra applets, and haven't found a solution in the forum, so i would appreciate any help.

I run geogebra 4.0 under Ubuntu linux (with openJava) and everything works ok. However, when trying to extract some geogebra constructions to applets, the applets don't run neither in firefox nor in chrome. can somebody please explain what's going wrong?

Thanks in advance,

Christos

Hi,

at least with OpenJDK 6 you have no chance to get this all working. If you don't want to use Sun-Java, you have to wait, until your distributor provides OpenJDK 7 together with the adequate Browser-Plugin.

On my openSUSE 11.4 I have tested some more and some less complicated ggb-files using OpenJDK 7 and GeoGebra 4.0.4.0. They all worked without problems, when I opened the exported html files with Firefox 7.0.1. As Browser-Plugin I used the package icedtea-web, even though it still depends on OpenJDK 6. I hope, this will change with openSUSE 12.1 (which will be available soon :-).

One thing keeps me anxious: I had to export old ggb files (saved with Sun-Java) using OpenJDK 7 to get them running with icedtea-web. Html pages exported with Sun-Java didn't load using icedtea-web. A reason may be, that my old html files use signed jar files.

Thanks Christian

I thought the problem would be something like that...

Now i use the standard Geogebra Webstart to do my work and when i want to export it i use the portable geogebra package. Hope Ubuntu will upgrade their java or else i'll try OpenSuse :)

The reason, why it didn't work with my old exported html files, was, that the icedtea-web browser plugin doesn't work with signed jars. Now, I have changed all applets on my Homepage to use unsigned jars and I can't see problems for the use of OpenJDK 7 together with icedtea-web anymore.

Java WebStart works without problems, too. Only the Desktop Launcher doens't appear. (I use KDE 4.6.)
