Adding a 'custom tool' to an existing activity

Hi found this 'custom tool' which creates a double arrow with text (say: to mark the distance between two points), created by GERHARD (in response to a question by Phillipe)

If I open the file with GEOGEBRA, then I can see the 'custom tool' in my toolbar at the top of the page, and I can use it {either by typing in DoublearrowwithText(...) or by clicking on it in the toolbar at the top}

But, if I then load up my existing activity (which doesn't have the 'custom tool') then the custom tool disappears and cannot be found, even in the tool menu.

Geogebra's help page says "If you open a new GeoGebra interface using item 16px-Menu-file-new New from the 16px-Menu-file File Menu, after you created a custom tool, it will still be part of the GeoGebra toolbar. However, if you open a new GeoGebra window (item Menu_New New Window from the 16px-Menu-file File Menu), or open GeoGebra on another day, your custom tools won’t be part of the toolbar any more."

However, on my GEOGEBRA-APP, I don't have any options under the FILE Menu - so everytime I try to open the file that I want to use the 'custom tool' within, I lose the 'custom tool' from the menu at the top and it is not found under tools, or by typing in DoublearrowwithText(...)

Help!

Thanks mathmagic - I tried that again (I had tried it before). When I open the tool*.ggt, then I lose the original activity *.ggb.

Actually, the activity that I'm trying to add this new 'tool' to, already has a tool loaded on it. I thought that might be the problem, so I tried opening a different activity and then opening the tool - but it still didn't work.

Here's the activity that I'm trying to add the double-arrow-tool too. (the double-arrow-tool is attached in the original question)

perhaps you clic on save when you was opening *.ggt

after opening you must customise toolbar for viewing the tool

Hi Mathmagic,

I just tried - but it didn't work. I can't save the settings (i.e. save the toolbar). I'm using geogebra classic. I've attached both of the files to this thread - is it too much to ask for you to see if it works for you - can you save the spring-vertical files with the tool?

I have the same problem, I have created a custom example tool named 3pSirkel. ggt

then I open a new file click on file/open and click the 3pSirkel.ggt, and a grey box says loading...in my ggb file, but forever, nothing happens
