Hi,

is there any possibility to export a 3D-View as a 3D-Widget for iBooks Author?

If not, could you please implement such a function?

Best regards,

hera

Can I also please ask about the plans related to the question above? I just started experimenting with iBooks Author, and it would be very helpful to be able to include interactive 3D demonstrations.

Sorry, iBooks don't support WebGL (needed for 3D)

I did some experiment with Kotobee author and I managed to add a 3D geogebra applet to an ebook. I included the offline html bundle downloaded from Geogebra tube. Unfortunately I could not attach the resulting file here (I assume because of the size). I could open the result both with Kotobee reader and with iBooks. I could use the 3D interaction even in iBooks. I am happy to give more details in case anyone is interested, but I don't know how to share the 32Mbyte ebook.

Maybe DropBox?

What version of iBooks have you tested?

I have not used DropBox before, I'll take a look.

I am using macOS Sierra 10.12.5 and the iBooks version number is 1.10 (1289)

I uploaded the ebook to dropbox.

I included the applet in two different ways:

method 1 (for online viewing): I used the iframe embedding script from geogebra tube, this version can be seen in Kotobee reader, but not in iBooks

method 2 (for offline viewing): I downloaded the offline html bundle from geogebra, deleted some parts of the HTML file (so that only the applet is visible), and followed the instruction on the Kotobee site to add it as a page widget. I can see the working 3D widget in both Kotobee reader and iBooks.

iBook style popup widgets can also be added, but I have not tried this yet.

Sorry, we won't be providing further updates/support for iBook widgets
